Evaluation

At the beggining of the project I was really excited about using Voice Thread, but that excitement faded lesson by lesson. Voice Thread is the most frustrating program that I have ever used. Every time you make a mistake by clicking on save when you did not want that voice, you have to start the entire thread again!!! That is once you have loaded all of the pictures which took me over 35min. Then when it came time to embed the Voice Thread onto my blog my Voice Thread account wouldnt open, so I was never able to open my voice thread to embed it onto my blog. Luckily though I had written out my script on my blog before hand and it also had the pictures so I just had to give a normal oral presentation. Animoto though was Amazing from start to finish. it was efficient, fun, easy to use and produced a quality presentation... So I highly recomend animoto to anyone and everyone. But Voice thread however I would encourage people not to use if they can help it!!! I think that I would recomend this project to other students but only if the school was really considering using their technology. This is because all of the Technologies I knew about except the 100$ laptop, so I enjoyed the project except for the voice thread

All of this is why I think that we should have Macbook Airs' at School, I hope you learned something.

Here you can see the Macbook Airs' flip down door which is home to its USB, DVI ports and Head phone Jack.

Some of the programs that the Macbook Air has to offer are ilife, itunes, iphoto, ichat, isight, imovie and ioffice.

I think that the students at Qatar Academy should have Macbook Air's because obviously they are ultra portable, so instead of lugging around a 5+ pound laptop. You have a mere three pounds to carry around. You can also benefit alot from everything that Mac has to offer. +

Here we have a picture of the Airs' Keyboard. As Mac describes it the "keys are crispy to the touch." This full size keyboard is the same as the Macbook but this time apple took another step and the Air's Keys are individually illuminated so that you can still work comfortably without any trouble. You may think that apple has cut some of Macs' luxuries but the keyboard on the air is still a full size.

The Air has an over sized multi touch Touch pad which makes it easier and easier to use.

The Macbook Air weighs a mere 3 pounds and is still better than so many other notebooks. The Air Boasts a 13.3in. LED Display screen, which has ambient sensors, which adjust the brightness according to where you are for the best visibility possible. The Air is 12.74in. in length and .76in. in width, while closed.

An extra lesson....

Today since most of the class werent able to emmbed their voice threads and animoto Mrs. Lindsay gave us an extra lesson for our new technology project. I am really glad that this has happend because I wasnt able to emmbed by Voice Thread onto my blog because my, along with many other people account wouldnt load. I am also really glad because someone from another 6th grade class saw me working on my project and they asked me if I wanted to borrow his Macbook Air for my presentation. Unfortuntley this only happened today, so if we had had to do our presentations today it wouldnt have worked. So hopefully I can get the Macbook Air for the presentation. I think that would really improve my presentation because then people would really be able to appreciate how thin and light it is. Not to mention how much it would help us in class. I have a little bit of work to do because I will have to emmbed my Voice Thread into my blog before next lesson....

Animoto is a great, easy and fun way to create a very attractive multi purpose presentation. i am going to use animoto for as many things as I can, now that I know how to use. But I would really like to be able to make a longer video for free!! Looking forward to making a new one sooon!

How, Why, What for?

The Macbook Air can help is in many ways, forms, and subjects. For example, we could use the Macbook Air for IT instead of using the schools computers. This would be better than using the schools computers because on the Macbook Air there are things such as a built in web cam, the latest apple software, Ilife and itunes, just to name a few. These would help us because starting with the webcam, it would mean that we could taking pictures&videos without using a video camera or a camera. Ilife would help us organize our life that we lead using the computer and without. For example if you have a meeting coming up you submit that information and your computer will remind you. You can create music, websites, books, calendars, CD's, DVDs and much much more all with just one piece of software, and it's all with the Macbook Air!! The Macbook Air would also help us because it would mean that people wouldn't have to wait a long time to log in or navigate around on their computer. This would be because everyone only uses their own computer so the only person that computer has to log on is the owner of that laptop. This would save a lot of time in all lessons because often times people cant use their computers, which means they cant do their work because the Internet isn't working or they cant log etc... So all of the students having a Macbook Air would increase our lesson time which would increase the amount we learn, even if it is only about 10 min. every time a teacher and their class is using the computers that is 1hour/60min. everyday in a week that is 7hours/420min. every week of wasted lesson time because something is wrong with a computer.

We could use the Macbook Air in literally every lesson except P.E. unless we are researching, that shows how valuable the Macbook Air would be if everyone had one at Qatar Academy! What could we use it for?

In this blog I am going to talk about how we could use the Macbook air in school. We could use the Macbook Air for many subjects. We could use them for IT so that we wouldnt have to use the schools computers. This would be better than useing the schools computers because the Macbook Air has more things to offer and it is also faster, newer and very easily portable. Not to mention the fact that it only weighs 2.2 kg. We could use them for any project that requires us to use the internet, word, powerpoint, publisher, itunes, safari, icalender and ilife.

I just started a new project which is about what new technology helps us at school and how it helps us. So for my new technology project I choose the "Mac book Air." This is a laptop, the thinnest in the world made by Apple Mac. I think that the Mac book Air can help us in school because it means that we can have a laptop that is really thin and light for us to take around, instead of lugging around a heavy and fat. The weight of the Mac book Air is a mere 2.2 kg. The Mac book Air has a built in Web cam so you don't need to use a video camera. The screen is a generous 75 cm. I think that the Mac book air can help us in many ways and in many subjects. for example we could use it in IT for many things like taking pictures or videos or working on a project with. The Mac book Air is equipped with the newest apple software, ilife. ilife can help us organize our life and files for school. So that we always know what we have to do and when by etc. The Mac book Air may be great but it ain't cheap, with all the extras and accessorize that apple has to offer for this product in comes out at just under QR13000.
